Vintage Mother-Child Portraits Are Downright Creepy 0

I was having trouble sleeping the other night, so I decided to go online and check the RSS feeds that I was subscribed to for some late night reading. That probably wasn’t a very good idea, because I happened to stumble upon this gallery of vintage mother-child portraits that I have to admit, was downright creepy.

The mothers aren’t hidden in the photos because of any strange customs or for any superstitious beliefs. Rather, the mothers were asked to hold their children in place since the subjects (in this case, the children) needed to stay in place for a longer period of time. It took a while for the portraits to be exposed, and we all know how frisky some kids can get.

It’s not so creepy now that I’m viewing the photos in broad daylight. But when it’s late at night and you’re the only one left who’s still awake, well, then that’s a different story.

There’s a whole gallery of these photos up on Flickr, if you’d like to see more.
