Dumpsters are such unsightly objects, but hand it to these German garbage collectors to turn them into instruments of art.
A group of garbage men in Hamburg decided to combine their love for photography with their job of collecting trash by turning dumpsters into giant pinhole cameras.
The conversion process was pretty simple: Tiny holes were drilled into the dumpsters and large hanging sheets of photo paper were then hung on the inside. Framing a shot using the cameras takes about sixty seconds, although it takes close to an hour to expose the image.
The experiment was dubbed as the “Trashcam Project.” Here are some select shots from the series:
