Several reports have been circulating regarding the highly anticipated announcement of the Pentax K-01 mirrorless camera. Initially, we were given what is said to be the official spec sheet for the camera along with the notion that it will be announced at some point next month. This leaked spec sheet notified us of things such as a 16.3-megapixel camera, a brand new DA 40mm f/2.8XS lens, full 1080p HD video capture, built-in flash and several body colors including black and white and black and yellow. However, while it’s nice to hope for these specs we won’t know for sure until they come from the mouth of someone officially involved.
Luckily, it seems that we will soon have the information we desire as Pentax has begun sending out a press invitation for an event with special guest designer Marc Newson. Why does this matter? Because according to reports, Marc Newson has, in conjunction with Pentax, provided design oversight for the K-01. Even better, we now have February 2nd to mark on our calendars as this is said to be the date on which the camera will be announced.
To be believed? Well, it doesn’t technically say that the Pentax K-01 will be announced all rumors point towards a definite K-01 announcement. On that note, we would definitely say it’s safe to put some stock into this one.
