Here’s something you don’t get to read everyday: Pentax US recently released press material for the new D FA 645 25mm f/4 lens, which according to Photorumors, was already listed since last month on B&H Photo’s online store.

Here’s an excerpt from the official press release:

Denver, CO (March 22, 2012) – PENTAX RICOH IMAGING AMERICAS CORPORATION today announced the introduction of its new DA645 25mm f/4 lens, designed and optimized for exclusive use with its popular 645D medium format digital SLR camera. By combining its ultra-wide perspective with exclusive PENTAX Super Multi-Coating (smc), Aspherical Elements (AL), Supersonic Motor Drive (SDM), and all-weather (AW) construction, PENTAX has created a lens that will render super-sharp images with performance levels photographers have come to expect from original PENTAX lenses.

The 25mm lens is made specially for the PENTAX 645D digital SLR camera. It features a 95-degree angle of view, two high-performance aspherical optical elements, an advanced SDM (Supersonic Direct-drive Motor) autofocus mechanism, and is dustproof and weather-resistant.

The suggested retail price of the Pentax D FA 645 25mm f/4 is $4,999.95 USD and it’s going to be available by the end of March. Although, B&H listed their expected availability on May 15, 2012.
