DxO Labs’ newest update to Optics Pro – their raw-conversion and lens-correction software – has added support for 5 new cameras and several new lenses, bringing their total number of supported “modules” above 5,000.
Version 7.1 adds support for the Sony A65, Panasonic DMC-G3, and the three latest Olympus PEN cameras; and as a present to all of their loyal users, the new software will be sold at a 30% discount until December 24th. This discount brings the Standard edition cost from $169 to $99, and the Elite edition from $299 to $199.
However, with stiff competition from a few Adobe products, the 5,000 module mark wasn’t enough; Version 7.1 also brings with it several enhancements to their image processing engine, making it even faster than before to de-noise, adjust colors, eliminate lens aberrations or otherwise make decent photos look great.
With all the new modules, new speed, and new – however temporary – price tag, it’s hard to imagine not taking advantage and getting a copy for the photographer on your Christmas list – especially if that photographer is you.
