Olympus Wants You to Get a Grip–For Free, With Your OM-D 0

The Olympus OM-D EM-5 has finally been unveiled, after much fanfare and speculation when the manufacturer teased audiences with a mysterious and cryptic ad over a month ago.

I think it’s safe to say that Olympus was successful in building the hype and anticipation for the shooter, which will be released later in April this year. (While you wait though, you can check out some videos showcasing the OM-D.)  Addedto all the excitement and jazz is this promotion for a free grip for the camera, if you pre-order yours from the Olympus UK site.

Some customers were confused when they tried to place orders and were told that the offer wasn’t valid. It turns out that the offer isn’t available in North America since the promotion was being offered by Olympus Europe. A poster as the Mu-43 forum posted the following clarification that was sent by an Olympus reprsentative:

This offer is made through Olympus Europa not through Olympus Imaging America Inc. and will not be available to customers in North America.

In the case that you do reside in the UK or plan to get your OM-D from a retailer there, then here’s a post from the Olympus System Talk UK forum on where you can go pre-order your shooter:

The post also provides the following information about the free grip offer:

Order through the above dealers and receive the HLD-6 grip and battery holder set. SSP expected to be £229 (without battery – you will need to buy an extra battery and grip strap if you want them).

This applies to all orders placed between now and end of April. There is no panic. Once the customer has received their OM-D they claim their free grip by sending in a copy of the receipt.
