Nikon to announce an F-mount adapter for Coolpix cameras 0

In addition to the recently rumored April announcement of the Nikon D3200 DSLR camera, Nikon is also expected to launch a new F-mount adapter for their Coolpix shooters.

Yes, you heard it right. You can now use F-mount DSLR lenses with your Coolpix camera. Nikon’s concept is similar to the adapter used in attaching lenses to the iPhone.

The new adapter features a Neodymium magnet for attaching the Coolpix camera to the lens. In the image below, a Coolpix S30 is attached to a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens using the adapter.

Although, the adapter’s exact name and model are not yet known, as it is covered on the photos. As you can see below, only the “NIK” letters are readable.

The Nikon Coolpix F-mount lens adapter is expected to be announced together with the D3200 later this month, and should be priced around $99.

Update: April Fools! 🙂
