With the emergence of high powered cameras built into today’s smartphones it’s becoming less necessary for average consumers to carry around point and shoot cameras. While this won’t necessarily affect manufacturers behind high powered DSLRs it may shake those whose primary source of revenue comes from point and click cameras. Luckily, there are some things that can be done to make higher end P&S’s more enticing… such as price drops.
Today such a phenomenon has been noted with the Nikon CoolPix S3100. If you’ve been paying attention, just before the holiday season we let you know that the CoolPix S3100 would be a great buy at just $97. Well, it seems the deal has been sweetened even further with several carriers including Target and Best Buy dropping the price tag to just $79.99.
If you’re not familiar with this camera it features a 14 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 720p HD video capture, 2.7-inch LCD display, 45MB of internal storage with SDHC slot for additional storage and, of course, a USB port. No WiFi or anything fancy like that but at such a low price tag it’s hard to complain.
Make note that this is currently listed as a temporary price cut so if you’re looking to get down on the deal you better do so fast.
