As more and more details emerge about the new Canon PowerShot G1X, it is apparent this will be the camera to blow all other DSLR cameras out of the water. Out of all the various specs that have been released, one the most mysterious is the assertion the camera includes a “child-weighted face detection system.”
Although no official details have been given on the child-weighted face detection system, it has been speculated that the camera will be able to recognize children in your frames. Children would become the primary in regards to automatic focus and exposure settings.
The camera is being marketed to individuals who consider themselves advanced amateur photographers. It is a point and shoot camera with a 4x optical zoom, six frame per second high speed shooting, four frame per second standard shooting, full 1080p high definition video recording and 14.3 megapixels.
Although information about the Canon PowerShot G1X has been leaked early, it will be officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show taking place in Las Vegas next week. Pricing for the camera is rumored to begin at $799.
