The Chinese are crazy about rotating cameras. Or they just want to take “selfies” to another level.
A couple of days ago, OPPO announced the N1 that features a single camera that rotates above the smartphone (world’s first, by the way). And just recently, GSMInsider has reported of what is possibly a new flagship smartphone from another Chinese company called Vivo.
If the rumor is indeed true, then we’ll expect another smartphone with a swivel camera: the Vivo BBK.
While the OPPO N1 packs a 6-element lens 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture, the BBK, on the other hand, is going to have a 20.2MP with Nikon single-lens-reflex chip and aperture of f/2.0.
Whether the Vivo BBK is coming or not, I’m guessing that we’ll see other smartphone manufacturers testing rotating cameras on their new devices. I think it’s an economical way of having the same megapixel on the front and rear camera.
What do you think, would you buy a smartphone with a single camera that rotates?
