Smartphone photographers often have a number of camera accessories and it can be an inconvenience to carry around bulky ones. The Jawcase is a deceptively simple smartphone case that does more than just protect your phone. It can be converted into a universal stand and car mount for taking photos and videos in many adjustable angles. As a casual photographer, I think that the Jawcase could be a useful accessory to have in my inventory as it eliminates the need to carry around a traditional tripod. The case is actually quite durable as it is made purely from polycarbonate, which makes it comfortable to grip and shoot with.
Jawcase will be particularly useful for photographers on the go. The car mount will come in handy for shooting steady videos while driving, as it can easily be mounted on the car dashboard. At this stage, the case is only designed for the Motorola Droid X, but they are working on producing a version for the iPhone 4. Jawcase will probably not have many customers until support for the iPhone 4 is added, but it does seem like an accessory I would want to try out.
Overall, Jawcase looks like a pretty handy smartphone accessory that could be useful for taking photos on the go. If you would like more information, or would like to assist in funding this project, head over to the Jawcase Kickstarter page.
