It’s clear what type of apps the Apple team considers valuable when they unveiled their picks for App of the Year this year. Apple unveiled iTunes Rewind 2011 last Thursday, where it featured and gave special mentions to the best content available on their media store iTunes.
For the iPhone, top honors went to Instagram. Instagram is a free iPhone-exclusive photo sharing app that allows users to transform their photos by applying cool effects and filters. The app has become so popular that it even gave rise to photo printing service Prinstagram.
Another photography-related app, Snapseed, bested other apps for the iPad App of the Year. Snapseed is a basic photo editor that’s kind of like Instagram since it also allows you to add filters and effects to your photos. One major difference, though, is that it provides you with better granular control. It’s not free like Instagram though, and is priced at $4.99 on iTunes.
