There’s no question about it; Instagram has been nothing short of a phenomenon. Having been released in October of 2010 the app has managed to grab the attention of 15 million active users in under 2 years. If you’re not familiar with the application, it’s currently available for Apple’s iOS which powers devices such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Once downloaded, Instagram allows users to quickly and easily apply filters to photographs taken with their mobile device to later share with their peers. If it sounds simple, that’s because it is. Instagram has managed to blend a perfect formula of simplicity with functionality allowing it to entice users far and wide.
While the application has grown to be very popular we’ve yet to see the Android version made available for download. The last we heard of said Android version was back in December when we were told that it would be “coming soon”. Nearly 2 months later we’ve yet to see Instagram hit the Android Market but perhaps that hiatus will finally be coming to an end.
Just today the picture you see above was leaked. From the looks of it, this seems to be an Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ 4.0 powered device showing off Instagram available for download. Of course, as is usually the case with such leaks, this could be nothing more than a quick Photoshop job. On that note, take it how you will but no matter which way you slice it, Android is definitely getting Instagram soon – it’s just a matter of when. Stay tuned.[RedmondPie]
