Digital Diana 0

In an earlier post, we took a little walk down memory lane and saw how Diana+ film cameras could’ve been the inspiration behind Instagram.

But what if you don’t want to shoot film, and are uninspired by your camera phone? Check out this killer toy camera throw forward: The Diana lens adapter kit.

This awesome circular shaped disc allows you to mount a Diana+ lens onto a Canon or Nikon camera.  Then you’ll be able to give your photos that dreamy look you’ve always wanted.

A few things to keep in mind when shooting with this lens:

  • There are 3 distance settings: 1-2m, 2-4m, and Infinity.
  • This lens works best in full light.
  • Like the Diana body, this lens is plastic. That’s it. Unlike the electronics the Wizard had behind the curtain, there is no magic communication between your Diana+ lens and your state of the art digital SLR, so set your DSLR on either Manual or Aperture Priority mode.

Below are some examples of how dreamily awesome images can turn out. All these were taken in full sunlight.

The lens adapter can be purchased in a kit (for Canon or Nikon) or separately on Photojojo.com for $60 or $15, respectively.  Also, be sure to check out the FAQ on Photojojo’s site to help with operating the Diana+ lens when it’s mounted on a DSLR.
