Cycloramic Uses iPhone 5 Vibrate Function for Panoramic Photos 0

Now that Apple’ s iOS App Store has been on the market for several years now, it seems that almost everything has been done when it comes to apps. Add to that the emergence over highly successful app outlets such as Google’s Android Play Store and the chance to be unique seems even smaller. However, each and every time we think we’ve seen it all, something entirely new hits the scene. For example, the first time I saw a video demonstration Cycloramic, I was sure some sort of trickery was afoot.

At first blush, Cycloramic may look like any other panoramic image creating app for the iPhone, but thinking this would be wrong. Typical apps on phones such as these usually task a user with manually moving the camera around to stitch various images. While this works quite well, it’s quite evident that this is a flawed method due to inconsistent human movement. Cycloramic, on the other hand, looks to do away with that with its very unique automatic panoramic image creating feature.

To do this, Cycloramic uses the iPhone 5’s built-in vibrating motors to  rotate the device 360-degrees while capturing images. This eliminates any possibility of human error while taking the shots. Not only does this result in a beautifully accurate panoramic image but watching the iPhone spin around in such an elegant fashion is quite the sight itself.

While the app is available for download for the iPhone 4 and 4S, the developers warn us that the iPhone 5 has a different vibrating motor which means results will vary.
