Nikon recently introduced its very first “adventure” camera: the Coolpix AW100. This new digital camera, which features a 16 megapixel sensor and 5-25mm/F3.9-4.8 zoom lens, is shockproof, waterproof, and freeze proof—perfect for the sporty side of you.
The Nikon Coolpix AW100 also packs a GPS feature, which allows you to pinpoint the location of where you took the picture. It also has a built-in compass, so you’ll never get lost in your outdoor endeavors.
The Coolpix AW100 is marketed by Nikon with the tag line of “Born to be extreme.” Its waterproof feature can withstand the depth of up to 33 feet, which makes the AW100 a handy gadget if you want to go swimming with the sharks. Although, Nikon warns users not to drop the camera more than 5 feet and avoid bringing it anywhere with freezing temperatures below 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It would be nice if Nikon could slap an “extreme meter” on the device, so users won’t forget its limitations.
With a price tag of up to $379, the Coolpix AW100 is a nice addition to your next camping trip. Just be careful not to go beyond more than extreme.
