Christmas Come Late – Why January and February are the Best Months to Buy Cameras 0

With the rumor mill abuzz about cameras like the Nikon D4 and Canon 5D Mark III, what most photography enthusiasts and consumers are ignoring are the imminent price drops on previous models.

Of course we all want the newest – and preferably shiniest – toy; but with CES looming in the not-so-distant future, Lifehacker made the smart observation that January and February may just be the best time to snap up some great deals on last year’s cameras.

On a list they put together entitled “The Best Time to Buy Anything in 2012,” they point out that the price drops you’re likely to see both in anticipation of CES, and following the announcements therein, make January and February the smartest months to shop for a camera.

As to whether or not we’ll be able to resist buying up the soon-to-be announced cameras when they hit the shelves, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if the best of the rumors are true.
