Just a few days ago we gave you a look at the leaked Canon Powershot G1 X. At the time, Canon remained quiet in regards to the details surrounding this device which left us waiting for CES 2012 to roll around. Well, roll around it has and from it we’ve already managed to pin down a ton of exciting new announcements. If you couldn’t guess where we were going with this yes, the Canon Powershot G1 X has been officially announced.
Not much has changed from the original leak but we at least we can rest easy knowing everything is now official. Canon is saying that the Powershot G1 X will be one of the best cameras on the market for photography enthusiasts who, for whatever reason, don’t want to make the jump to a DSLR.
Canon’s Powershot G1 X featrues a 14.3-megapixel CMS sensor and a 4x 28mm f/2.8-16 lens (just under APS-C size). The camera also features the ability to record full 1080p HD video and comes equipped with a 3.2-inch LCD that users can tilt, swivel and move around to their hearts extent.
Unfortunately, with all of this advanced technology there is a trade off as Canon tells us when the camera drops in February consumers will be forced to pay a full $799.99. But, if you are looking for a camera that doesn’t require you to chances the lenses and that will act as an over the top high quality point-and-shoot, $799.99 is but a small price to pay.
