Canon has announced that they will be offering a $400 instant rebate for their EOS 5D Mark II DSLR.
With the $400 instant rebate many retailers are offering the EOS 5D Mark II body for $1,799 and the body coupled with a 24-105mm 1/4L lens for $2,499. For those not accustomed to DSLR prices that may still be quite a hefty tag but it’s to be noted that this makes the 5D one of the cheapest full frame cameras on the market.
While it would be nice to think that Canon is specifically looking to help out their customers, this probably isn’t the case. As you’re sure to know, the 6D has previously been released with an already attractive price tag of just $2,099 for the body itself. Due to this, Canon is most likely cutting the price tag of the 5D to sell off any remaining stock and shift consumer attention to the 6D. Regardless this is a very attractive deal as the 5D remains a great DSLR.
