So far, Canon’s rumored high megapixel (75+) camera is still … a rumor. But don’t let that get you down, because Canon Rumors confirmed that the camera does exist and a test camera is “definitely in the wild.”
The said “wild camera” is reportedly housed in a body of an EOS-1, sports a 3.2-inch LCD screen on its rear, and, of course, is a very high frame rate shooter.
The camera rumors site also said that there’s a possibility that Canon is going to announce the high megapixel camera before this year ends.
Anyway, here are some of the statements from a couple of experts on what they think about the rumor:
“While I believe that this pre-production camera is in the wild, I’m not ready to proclaim that Canon is going to announce a 75MP+ DSLR this year. I just have a hard time believing Canon will make such a big jump.”
“All our earlier snippets of info this year suggested that nothing would ship until 2014, although we could yet see a ‘preview’ announcement. Not sure if Canon would really want to dent 1D X sales with a hint at such a big jump in capabilities. Recent rumours do seem pretty much all over the place – time will tell if there are nuggets of truth in this lot. We often hear of test cameras out there, but rarely with real details…”
