Snap a Photo on May 15th to Commemorate the Day with Millions of Others 0

A picture can capture one specific moment in time forever: From your wedding day, to the birth of your first child, to the day when it’s your turn to walk them down the aisle. But what moment are you choosing to capture on May 15th?

That’s the date has chosen for their project this year. Shutterbugs all over the world are being called upon to join millions of others in commemorating the day by using the “power of photography to create, share and inspire perspectives on daily life – today and tomorrow.”

A similar project was launched back in 2003 in Sweden by Jeppe Wikstrom, who is also the co-founder of the current project. Wikstrom explains the motivation behind the project:

Pictures from our life are one of the things that we cherish the most, and if you don’t preserve them they’re gone. . . We somehow think everyone in Africa is starving and we assume that everyone in China rides a bike.

The best submissions will be featured in a global exhibit and a book that will be published sometime after the project wraps up. Sign up here to join the project and receive updates from ADay.
