The cameras built into today’s latest smartphones are more powerful than ever before. Better yet, manufacturers don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, as is usually the case with the tech industry. A prime example of this would be the 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor Sharp debuted a while back made specifically for smartphones.
While boosting the resolution of smartphone cameras is always nice, what if you could do more – say, record 3D videos and take 3D pictures? Well, what would have been thought of as a pipe dream not too long ago is already a reality as devices like the HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D are already on the market complete with 3D cameras and displays.
While this may seem a bit gimmicky, if recent reports are to be believed it seems that someone is buying these cameras as LG will be following up the Optimus 3D which is a device currently known as the CX2. This device is said to feature average things like a dual-core processor and Google’s Android but the real magic happens on the rear where dual 5 megapixel cameras are situated.
This duo of cameras will make for the ability to record 3D video and imagery should you choose. As of now, there’s no word on a release date or price point for the CX2 but we’re sure to hear more soon.
