2012 Pulitzer Prize Winners for Photography Announced 0

The Pulitzer Prize is one of the most prestigious awards handed out to the people who stand out in the worlds of journalism, literature, and music composition. Of the 21 award categories, two of them are of particular interest to photographers everywhere: the Breaking News Photography and Feature Photography prizes.

The 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner for Breaking News Photography went to Massoud Hossaini of Agence France-Presse for “his heartbreaking image of a girl crying in fear after a suicide bomber’s attack at a crowded shrine in Kabul.”

While the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography was awarded to Craig F. Walker of The Denver Post “for his compassionate chronicle of an honorably discharged veteran, home from Iraq and struggling with a severe case of post-traumatic stress.” Walker also won a Pulitzer Prize in 2010 for a series of images that featured a teenage American soldier in the midst of the violence in Iraq.
