170 Years of Photography And There Are 500 Cameras To Show For It 0

Cameras have come a long way since they were first used by Greek mathematician and architect Anthemius of Tralles in his experiments. The first cameras were huge boxes that had to be fired manually. The people from that time probably didn’t think that it would come to a point that cameras would be so small, that you can hang them off of your keychain like the Sanwa Digital Toy Camera.

There have been many innovations in cameras in the past 170 years. From film cameras to Polaroids to digital cameras and DSLRs, you can say that the world has been able to use and capture memories with the use of various versions and makes of these devices.

The George Eastman House has published 500 Cameras: 170 Years of Photographic Innovation to show you just how much cameras have evolved over the years. In the video above, curator of George Eastman talks about the new book and shows some sneak peeks from the book.
